I have an Outwell Oregon 5 and am about to embark on our first family independant camping holiday (I have camped at jamboree before) We are being offered a choice of hard standing or grass pitch and I am unsure which would be best. We sleep on fat airics on the floor with a blanket underneath usually.

Also we are being charged £120 for 5 nights with electricity and water on our pitch and fishing, is this an ok price for the may school holidays?

I would opt for grass. Hardstanding pitches are meant for caravans. Tents can pitch on them but you will need rock pegs and a good tarp underneath to protect your SIG.

That price for 5 nights during the may holidays is not too bad. Here the prices are ridiculous

Have a great time

Angie

Hi

With a tent you need a Grass Pitch, hard standing are mostly used for Caravans.

Not sure if £120 is too much as you don't say where you are going and how many you are>

Definitely grass we booked a hardstanding pitch last year because of the weather but took one look at it and made for the field - even with a tarp & footprint we weren't taking any chances with the rough gravel.

Given the time of year and the area, electricity as well as water on your pitch ie fully serviced pitch, add the fishing and I guess that £120 is a good price. Fully serviced pitches are a little more costly but worth it if you don't have to keep running back and forth for water!

Hope you have a great time!

Amanda
