Have a look on the outwell site Steve. They have videos of the tents being erected on a lot of the range. It might give an idea of how it would be for you. Hope that helps!

cant help really, have never put one up, but i would stay away from the cliffs, the wind can make pitching a nightmare, if you stay on the island that is!!
but we do have some lovely sites away from the edges - dont we!!!

and a large, daft, black dog!!
The car is all packed. We are getting the 9.30 ferry. I am getting quite excited, I have only ever been to the IOW once before (for a day). Everyone tells me that it's a beautiful place.
i have a idaho xl and honestly me and my friend can put this tent up within 45 mins, its easy once you have practicsed, and its a fab tent, there is a post on putting the tent up on here.
we go mostly to thorness bay because the OH is still getting used to the camping bit...lol second season for us working hard to get her to go south coast soon though
at tina where on the island are you? i'm in newport
The video on the Outwell site is absolutely useless! They miss out several major steps (especially when packing up!)...I wouldn't use it as a guide.
It takes me about an hour to put the XL (and groundsheet) up but I do it mostly by myself - OH holds the odd pole for me but that's about it (I don't mind - putting up is the fun part).
The hardest bit is lifting the main sections up - you might find it tricky with a dodgy hip/back...
...and don't talk to me about packing up . First time, it took me 3 attempts and 40 minutes (that's after 30 minutes to take it down!) to get it (mostly) back into the bag. Last time, 2 attempts and about 20 minutes, so I guess I'm improving
Can't comment on this tent, our Outwell Montana 6 took 1 hour to completely put up the first time. Putting away - my wife got it into the bag in 10 mins 23 seconds. Very impressive.
