Obviously a dog in the wrong hands if your son-in-law is prepared to "get rid" after one mishap   Dogs chew things when they're puppies, its a fact of life.  Yes I do sound harsh but I'm fed up of hearing about people getting puppies only to get rid of them after a couple of months because they didnt bother to learn how much time and effort is required in looking after one and they cant be bothered giving them the physical and mental exerise that is required!

I totally agree Slinger, a pup doesn't know the difference between a chew toy, a tent or your best shoes.......until you teach them.......and like you say some owners don't realise the responsibilities and rehome them at the first mishap.  My two are mine forever whatever they do and whatever they wreck........its my fault for not keeping an eye on them at the end of the day.

Yep...ALL pups chew...can still show you the teeth marks bottom corner of my display cabinet(hidden by strategic placing of sofa) Where Meg had a go one day...and four diningroom chairs(now long gone) well chewed!!! When tea time was called in our house...there was a mad rush so you didnt get the wobbly one...

Glad to hear the tent is OK...and pup survived the initial "Get Rid of" idea......

HAHAHAHHAHA!!!

Our doggies don't chew anything but one has a bad habit of licking stuff like the carpet and ....the sky remote!

We borrowed a cousins dog and she chewed everything in sight. Pens, lipsalves, exercise books (i am a teaching and OH says she was trying to help with my marking) and on a regular basis empties bins.

Wouldn't swap her for anything though.
