hi there,we are absolutely gutted as we recently purchased a second hand outwell indiana and after erecting yesterda<(rather clumsily i might add, does anyone know of an easy way to erect when we've only been used to a fibre glass poled tent?),theres a hole in the roof of our tent, nothing major, about the size of a rice crispie.teh seller never mentioned this and will it devalue the tent if we sell with repairs?should we repair it and how do we go about it please?looking forward to all your friendly advicexx

If you sold it on then you would either have to mention the hole as you know about it or mend it before selling.

However if you want to use it and the hole is as small as you say you can use tenacious tape to fix it. It is clear, fixes very well, is strong and if applied carefully is just about invisible as well as being 100% waterproof. It will also stop any tears spreading (if it is a tear). I would suggest that you apply it to both sides of the fabric where the hole is.We have used it on a tent at a stress point and it did not budge, its also useful for other applications, we have used it on umbrellas as well.

The only other option, others will correct me if I am wrong, would be to send it to a specialist repairer to replace that panel or part of that panel. If feeling brave you could try to mend it yourself by obtaining some tent fabric (Penine Outdoors sells it in various colours and types) and trying yourself.

Once repaired it should be fine.

Have you approached the seller on this for some money back or a refund as it should have been mentioned when you bought it? You never know you may get your cash back to spend on another tent.

Cheers

Only the second time we used our monty 6 and the falling ash from the steam train that passed every morning left a hole the size of the tip of your small finger slap bang in the centre of the roof above the bedroom pods so I was none too pleased however we used tenacious tape and cut two circles out of it (drew round a baked bean can!) and stuck them on both the inside and the outside and not had any problems with it and is near invisble as the tape is transparent. They recommend you cut circles as I think squares, having corners, have more of a tendancy to lift. It's worked for us and we had everything thrown at us in October, including rain, gales, snow and 30 seconds of sunshine! Go outdoors sell it for around £3 for a strip about 4" wide by 18" long if memory serves me?

If you have a problem stressing you, sort it. If you can't, there's no point worrying about it coz it won't make a blind bit of difference!!!! Jules

Tenacious tape for the hole , and watch the montana 6 pitching video on the outwell site, also one on youtube showing a singlehanded pitching way, not exactly the same tent, but the general pitching is the same.

Outwells usually come with a repair kit that matches the colour of the fabric, I'm sure you'l be able to buy one.
We had a hole in our Montana 12 and just glued a circle either side, works great and you can hardly notice it.
