all my family member that i go camping with have said they are going to buy caravans next year i said i would be buying a bigger and better tent as i feel that caravaning is just not the same(also i can t get a caravan as i passed my test after 1997). So i am just wondering if it will be as much fun on are own without the other family members with us as we have always gone with a big group any where up to 15 of in total. i am mostly worried about the fact i will have no one to drink with as my wife doesn t really drink lol
If you passed your test after 1997 you can still tow a caravan just the caravan and the car have to come under the 3,500kg most cars and light weight caravans come under this weight
I am sure someone will be along soon to explaine the finer details
My other half is in the same boat as you so I have looked into it

------------- The meaning of life the universe and everything = 42 or camping?
Why cant you still holiday together... We had a caravan and holidayed 5-6 times a year with family, Last year we decided to sell up and buy a tent.. We still holiday with family but have to choose campsites carefully.. Most places will site tents and caravans together..
I also couldnt imagine holidaying on our own LOL!!!!! I cant sit and drink on my own either....
Thats just what I was going to say, you can still camp together unless they have a hard standing they are usually separate to the grass pitches, of you have EHU in your tent then they are the same pitches as the caravans.
No reason why you can't still go with the caravanners, lots of sites have mixed fields.
I always camp with a big family group too, and don't really like the idea of going without company. We had intended to go at whitsun , with my sis and her family, but they have a new puppy who has had his first injection and is due for the booster the week we will be camping. They probably won't go now, and my daughter has just said she doesn't fancy it with just us 2 and the kids in our tent.
Know what you mean about drinking alone, its just not the same, my daughter doesn't drink at all, but I love a bottle of wine, specially when camping .
we camp on our own with our two kids but we cant wait for our family to have kids and want to join us as it is much more fun in evenings as i dont drink my hubby will still drink on his own though lol
------------- none booked yet hoping for an august break and a weekend in september
I agree with the posts above. We always camp as a family (well, my wifes anyway) and we've got a mixture of tents, trailer tent & caravan. We've only been on one campsite where we (the tenters) were not next to everyone else but it wasn't as if we'd had to walk miles to get to them.
I think if you ask to be put next to each other, if possible, when you're booking hopefully the site owner will oblige.
