Caravanners use them more than tenters because caravans can store them in their own little hutch, and can plug them into the car for recharging.
In a tent, you would be tripping over the thing, and humphing it around. As they weigh more than the Brooklyn Bridge and are filled with sulphuric acid, they are not the ideal solution for lightweight camping. Then, after your coolbox has flattened it in around 5 minutes, you still have the massive useless brick to trip over for the rest of your holiday. Lastly, the wife complains that it hurts her back getting it out of the car and back into the house at the end of the holiday.
