we are always ehu so take a budget supermarket 2 slice toaster for £5

We had the pyramid toaster - hopless on our stove worst buy we have made.

The we got the single toaster, came with no instructions so like others have posted tried (D'OH) to get the bread in the middle, cursing how the bread was bigger than the gap and how it ripped trying to get the burnt toast out - another waste. Or so we thought until we saw this thread, talk about laughing. Tried it again a few days ago as above and it works (feel like idiots now). Have just bought another one, different make, slightly different in the way it opens but more or less identical, again no instructions.

I wonder how many have been thrown as useless!

Yes!!! bought one of those single slice, folding toaster jobs yesterday... Does fantastic toast in seconds

I like my toast well done as in hard, and not soggy/soft, hence I found the 4-slice toaster better than the single slice one.
