Site fees are cheaper if you are over 50 out of high season.

I can't decide whether to join or not.OH thinks it might be good idea but wont commit either way. We have a 13 yr old and a 4 yr old so the younger would be free. We also have 2 dogs and this can bump up the costs when looking for somewhere (have been quoted £2 per dog per night) and they are free with c&cc.

My only concern is if we join and then can't book anywhere, seems to be a problem mentioned on several threads....we would have wasted our money????? very confused

We've never really had a problem booking apart from last minute Bank Holidays which you would expect, although we tend not to go to the South West or other hotspots. We have also used CS and they are good value. You will get your membership back in a week away so its not a huge gamble. While I don't think all the C&CC staff buy into "The Friendly Club" tag-line generally the sites are good, we are just starting our third year as members and trying another new site this year as well as returning to Barny for the third time (superb site, well located and brilliantly run).
If you are planning to go somewhere specific in the height of summer it may be worth booking before you join but otherwise you should be OK.

Cheers

Alasdair

Hi - We joined the club last year and I wasn't sure if it would be worth the money as we only used it once.

However this year like Beefysmum we have booked a temporary holiday site. It is on a site we have visited before and we are paying £16 per night using the C&CC field. If we booked on the site direct over the bank holiday we would be paying £38 per night. We have therefore already saved over the membership cost with our 1st holiday.

We have also booked the Keswick C&CC site in August this year as with 2 teenage children and a dog it has worked out cheaper using their family deal than with other sites this year that charge for a pitch with 2 adults, tent and car and then having to start paying extra for everything else on top. I have found normal sites very expensive this year and feel my membership has definately been worth the money.

The best value with C&CC is definately their CS's. We paid £8 per night last year for 4 of us + dog and electric - couldn't find anywhere else that cheap.
