Hi!

Im sorry if Im posting this in the wrong place, but this is my first ever post!

Im having a slight 'issue' with my Coleman Classic Trailblazer 5 tent...

Last time I used it (about a year ago - Ive been spending time with a Vango behind its back) when I was taking it down I noticed two of the ties on the outter sheet that attach it to the inner structure were missing (both on the same side/corner of the sheet).

It had been windy and they must have broken off...hence the new Vango...however I have to use the Coleman this weekend (Vango is off on its hols with my Mom) and I have absolutely no idea what to do about the broken ties!

The tent will be all skew-wiff if I don't replace them but I have no idea where they went!  Ive brought some seam sealer but am struggling to think of something to improvise with to make suitable new ties.  Can any one help me with any suggestions?!  Would any bit of material do the job?

hi and welcome salhi. What sort of material were the original ones? were they stitched into a seam, have they ripped the seam open ? and will you have to stitch the new ties back into the seam as well?

Hi Debbie,

They were stitched onto a seam but not actually into it which is why I think they have ripped off so easily.

I dont mind if whatever I do is temporary and doesnt last too long as I dont use the tent much...just so I can use it every so often still if I need to and have it 'work' fine

have a look at your peg bag , there may be a tie around the top of that you could take off and use. would it be long enough for 2 ties ?
I'm guessing the material the tie is made of is the same as the flysheet , so maybe cut up the peg bag if its the same, or what about an old umbrella (or a new one from poundshop?)you could just cut a strip of fabric from an umbrella , that wouldn't need any hemming as it wouldn't fray , and stitch on and give it a dab of seam sealer.

or if you don't fangy sewing , you could use cling ons. plastic clips that you can attach the ties on with .

cling ons
if you used these , you could get probably away with using a bit of guyline to tie on with, instead of fabric.

Thanks very much for your help...the umbrella is a good idea! Also just this second noticed ties on the pole bag that might do...I didnt even think of that!
