Wouldn't be bothered if I forgot the OH - only problem is that if I am taking the camper I need him to tow.   This is due the the fact that my little car wouldn't manage it, not because I can't tow.     I am hoping to go without him, taking a tent and a small trailer for a few short breaks in the school holidays.

I usually take somethiong like a book to keep me occupied - but if I forgot I would just buy one, and put it down to holiday cost.    Probably find something in local charity shop.

lol Camping Nutcase can I just ask do you actually lash the OH to the camper, use a whip and shout mush  doesn't he object  !  Any tips would be gratefully accepted to store and use in the future

My most essential bit of kit to take camping is this >>>

The MacBook/iTunes!

Nothing better than kicking back with a glass of vino after pitching and listening to music!

Hounds 2 and 3. Clean up scraps and act as hot water bottle. Downside. They do make sleeping bags a bit whiffy when they climb inside when they're wet. Books to read and minidisc player for music. Oh, I'd better mention OH otherwise life won't be worth living.

you can use it to transport your 907 gas bottle, fill it with cold water and ice cubes to keep your wine and beer cold, use it as a fire bucket , dogs drinking water ,
wash your tent pegs in it ,put a carrier bag inside it for a bin, and anything else you might need a bucket for

Polly Pockets - the really small 1980's ones.  Yes, I know its sad but they keep the kids entertained for days in bad weather.  And no matter how big other tents are, we always end up with everyone else's kid in ours playing with them as well - they are fascinated by them.  Best e-bay purchase I have ever made. Oh and they don't take up any space.

Only problem is I get quite anal about keeping count on how many we have got and carry out polly head counts every hour.  SAD I KNOW

Playing cards is what we'd be gutted if we forgot. We never use them at home, but as soon as camping is mentioned the kids say, have we got a pack of cards?. they just love them . We had 3 packs in the tent games box this time. two packs had fancy backs with flowers on , one pack had silver background , one had gold.
The very young ones were playing snap with these 2 packs mixed together, facedown , just snapping gold or silver .

Besides the obvious as you mentioned OH & Kids, I think a sharp knife, can opener, BOTTLE opener, camera/camcorder so we have memories forever. Oh and a football for the kids.
