Can anybody tell me whether its worth joining the C&CC what do youget for yor money, can you only book these sites if you are a member. I'm quite new to camping, it's took me 12 years to convince the OH.

It depends to be honest. If you want a good site thats well run, then yes, although ive been made aware on here, that some of the clubsite wardens can be a a bit horrible.   I've never come across them though, so I cant really comment on that. The certified sites are brilliant and you can get camping for a few quid a night.   You also get a monthly magazine too, which is ok, but leans more towards the Caravanners and motorhomers among us.   I think its worth the money, and my only gripe as ive mentioned before is that it can be a bit of a pain trying to get booked anywhere via their online system at times.

Cool campers use Delta Pegs.

The sites used to be a cheaper way to camp - but these days you can get better value for a couple of quid more, than you get on some of the club sites.

We've just started our third year of membershio and we get our money back as we are spending 7-10 nights at least each year at club sites. The one at Barney is excellent and we going this year again at the end of the month. We have also been the the Certificated Site at Cononley twice and are going again in August and that is excellent value.
As has been said a few of the HSMs are a bit up themselves and I have met one who was just obnoxious, however generally they are excellent. If you you want to guarantee you won't have a party going on all night in the tent next door then they are good, if you are planning on partying all night then no so good. However there are a lot of reasonable well run private sites out there and using the reviews on here takes some of the risk out of going private.

Cheers

Alasdair

We're into our second year as members.  Apart from insurance for our folding camper and 5% discount at towsure we havent really got much out of it.  Their sites that I'd like to use are actually quite expensive - they charge per person plus club site fee (which I presume is electricity) so in peak season it looks like we'd be paying about £25+ per night for 3 of us.   I got quite excited about their DA meets which are very cheap  but I'm not sure about them as we like our toilets and showers and most of them seem to be in just a field with no facilities.

The membership fee is not too much (we've probably got ours back in Towsure discount) so it really depends what you want from it

As a tent user, I opted for the C&CC. I looked at the Caravan Club too, but I was a bit concerned that a lot of the sites I'd like to visit were Van only.   Never say never though. I do like being pitched occasionally between 2 vans - Great protection on windy sites.

We are caravanners but started out with a tt so joined the cc&c.  The family deal is great for us but the online booking can be a nightmare to use if the site you are looking at isn't available.  I'm sure they could make it more user friendly but haven't done so yet.  It's not easy to get a pitch during busy times but then that is the same for any popular site.

There is a site about an hours drive from us in the caravan club that i'd like to try so when our membership runs out this year i will join the caravan club.  From what i hear you have to book up in December for busy times but with dh now knowing what his hours will be each week way in advance we can do that.

Though i must admit that i prefer to be on a site with a mix of tents, tt's, motorhomes, camping folders and caravan's.  We stayed at a caravan site once and there was hardly room to breathe but assume that with the caravan club each pitch will be more roomy like the cc&c sites?

I like the fact that the "curfews" are enforced and you do not get the 2a.m. merry makers. Each to his own but my own is quiet nights and early mornings.
