I'm planning on making some italian bread and tomato sauce at home and then taking some fresh tortellini with us and parmesan so that we can have a lovely quick meal on our first night when we have set up in PARIS!

When I talk about camping to my (non-camping) friends, they always say "Oh I hope you eat out as you are supposed to be on hols and that includes not cooking". But in fact, I love rustling up some one pot wonder and eating it at leisure with a bottle of wine watching the world go by. Far more fun that traipsing off to find a place to eat and then having to traipse back again.

Anyone else find this?

We do a really easy chicken noodle dish which takes 5 mins to make & feeds 4 hungry mouths:

2 precooked chicken breasts diced
1 sachet Knorr chicken stock
3 tablespoons of dark soy sauce
Cupful or can of peas
Cupful or can of sweetcorn
2 sachets of Straight to Wok Thread Noodles

Chuck it all in a pan bring to boil & let simmer for a couple of mins & serve - delicious & so easy

Count me in. I love cooking. Not always one pot wonders - got two rings on the stove, plus a Cobb. I find it relaxing to cook the family a bonaza meal. Specially when armed with a glass of red or a swift bottle of stella or two.

If we are stopping for a week or more, I do like to treat the family to a meal out somewhere nice, maybe on the last night. Use the week to suss out a nice restaurant and book a table for us later in the week. The money saved by cooking your own food for the rest of the holiday helps to pay for the one "big" night out... Granted on a package holiday we eat out everynight... Camping/cooking yourself just the bees knees though imo.
