the only option might be to get a new fly or someone with a sewing machine and replace the material that has been damaged.Or a good second hand tent either the same make or a frame like an old lichfield v heavy which is why they are not popular now adays with all these light tents but if you have a car and room worth thinking about. soory can not help any more!

Hi Bek36

So sorry to hear about the loss of your tent. We were in the same boat as you this time last year,The wind just took the complete tent of the the poles, completely lost the tent but poles not damaged. Luckily as soon as we returned 5 days early,I contacted our insurers Nationwide and we were covered. Under the policy of personal possessions away from home. They settled over the phone and we received a cheque 5 days later. Thats what i call great service.

Hope the british elements hasnt put you of camping.

Happy camping

Fernsider

Hi all - just back from work - thanks for your wisdom, we haven't been put off camping because the kids enjoy it so much - more of an adventure than the caravan they say. As we were putting them to bed on Fri night my little girl who's 5 asked 'Mum - will the children in England be going to bed now too?' We were only 70 miles from home and still in Yorkshire! So, we'll be saving the family allowance for a couple of months and our local camping shop has put another Quebec aside for us! Also, I must just add the site we visited did need the barbed wire as we camped alongside a field of cows and sheep so it was a necessity!

In that case , i'd advise keeping the poles as spares. I bought a brand new full set of poles for the sunvalley for under £20 off ebay. A replacement kit of poles would have cost more than that in a shop, with only enough poles in it to replace one full pole length.
It worth be hanging on to them, as a new pole if you should ever need one will probably be hard to find, the stel ones don't seem to be readily available as spares, and might cost more than what you'd get on ebay for the whole set.

Oh my god you poor thing, so glad to see it hasn't put you off. I have had a tent repaired before although it was about 25 years ago, they cut out the damaged bit and sewed and sealed a new patch in. It may be worth making some enquiries to see if it's cost effective.

We had to very hastily pull ours out of the ground as we were next to a tent fire, very scary. Ripped the front off and snapped a pole, but we got it repaired and used it for many years later.
