Hello

I am overwhelmed by the choice of pegs available - can someone point me in the direction of an idiot's guide to pegs.

We have a killington 600 and currently only have the pegs that are supplied with the tent. At outdoor action yesterday we were advised that "any pegs would do" which completely contradicts everything I have heard on here! To be fair I don't think we were speaking to the brains of the operation.

So I need to know what pegs, how many? Do you put different pegs on the guys?

well when you were told any peg will do that might be true in perfect conditions but once the wind starts to blow then things become a bit more tricky

I use three types of peg, I always use delta ground anchors on all the guy ropes and one peg to each guy and i have a selection of steel and plastic  

heavy duty wire pegs for all the pegging points around the tent and i also have a selection of rock pegs for very hard ground

 

The cheap skinny pegs that come with most tents wouldnt keep a paper bag pegged down.

Deltas are strong and cost a little more than normal pegs but are worth the money IMHO

We have a pyramid with storm lines and use steel V pegs on those but still use 2 deltas for the 2 long guys that hold the canopy up.

And 4/6 for sons pup tent.

Decent plastic ones are good but I have given up buying them as OH seems to have the strength of superman when pegging and keeps breaking them

 I would use the steel deltas in harder ground as they would stand more pounding than the plastic deltas, but most people that use deltas have just one or the other

Rob orr who is a board member is sells the delta pegs and if you buy them via the link supplied you will get a 10% discount as a board member

They seem expensive compared to other pegs but if they help to save your tent in bad weather then they have got to be worth it

You should be looking at one delta per guy plus a few as spares
