Sorry!

But these were the points you raised, and I thought some pointers would be useful. No point in buying a tent that would be (a) too small inside and (b) too big for the pitch, at the same time!

LOL no need to apologise

I really appreciate the help you (and others) have given.I just meant that next time we are away i will pay close attention to other tents to see what would suit in terms of size and cost.

Thanks

Just remembered Cotswolds are advertising tent shows, the Glasgow one is on 13th and 14th June. I haven't been to one so don't know what it'll be like but it might be worth a nosey, or a phone call to see what'll be there. There's a list of dates on their website.

Hi dunderheid

not sure if it's too far but we have a great camping shope next to us in Kingsmuir just outside Forfar Angus. It is a family owned business and they usually have around 20-30 tents on display, very helpful there with competetive prices. We bought our vermont m there last year and they couldn't have been more helpful.

www.kingsmuircampingcentre.co.uk

Sorry can't get link to work but at least you have the address.

I've just had a look at their website and the prices seem very good!
They have the tigris 600 for £200 which is comparable with online prices.
Maybe i should relive my childhood with a trip to seaton estate(in Arbroath) this weekend so we can go to kingsmuir!

I get the feeling i am going to like this site! Thanks for the help again.

I think you will find Seaton Estate a much changed place a bit too posh for our canvas caravans. I stay in Arbroath and actually used to play at in Seaton Estate when I was a child before there was even a site there. By the way I'm not a pensioner but reading back this post I realise I sound like an old fogey!!!!!!

I know it seems such a shame. Whatever you decide I'm sure you'll have a good time. Good tent hunting!

I can recommend Kingsmuir as well. We went for a little foray (i.e. OH saying "We're just LOOKING, you do understand that?") and ended up coming back with tent, canopy, carpet, wind break (not yet used)..., etc. Well, the impulse buys are always the best.

They had a good display, were very helpful and no hard sell - and it was lovely to see all the tents up.

Congrats on your new purchase.

The Tigris is one of the tents that I am considering as a weekend tent, we love our Vermont but it's a heavy piece of kit. Isn't Kingsmuir great. I would visit more often but I'm afraid they will think I'm a camping stalker.

we bought most of our camping gear from

www.kingsmuircampingcentre.co.uk

I think the owners are husband and wife, they were great ending up spending more than i should have that was because of the gear they sell and the good price it sells at. Its a bit tricky to find,

I will definalty use it again....
