Hi All
Please could anyone help?,i have just found out that my house insurance does not cover my tent when it is up,which i think is bizarre.
Could anyone please advise me on any companies that will insure my tent on its own?,as i can only find sites for trailer tents and caravans which is getting frustrating now.
Grateful for any advice received.
Thank you for reading.
Regards.
Jumpjet.

The risks are low - theft is very unusual, also fire, most likely is wind damage, and that's not that common esp. for a decent tent. Covering the cost ourselves of buying a replacement seems the best approach.
And take care with the restrictions on the cover. for example the co above, is new for old for first 2 years, after that it's market value. The market value of even an expensive tent is much reduced after a few years.
I'd say insure it for the first 2 years just in case, and save up your own insurance fund.
You can bet the farm that after 2 years they'll declare the value of your tent is 3.5p or something.

Your home insurer should add cover for this for around £35 per year, which is quite expensive. This would cover your tent and equipment AT HOME with new for old cover (up to 2 yrs)less Excess and Voluntary Excess, HOWEVER...
...Away from home in the car cover drops to £2500 with max. single item cost £1000 less E & VE, HOWEVER...
...Pitched outside (when you most need cover against storm damage) the max single item cost drops to £500 less E & VE. Not much use if you own a Wolf Lake or the like...
Don't quote me on these figures - just from memory when I checked a few months ago. Self insure sounds like a better bet, together with good guy and pegging out practice.
