Oh no! I can imagine how frustrating that must be for you, especially during a house-move. Do you have any idea when the op will be done? Hopefully a camp might be in order at a later stage with a few helping hands and you can be out in the garden in nice weather, rather than doing the injury during the winter months?
Ok, I'm trying to be optimistically cheerful here, do shoot me down with flames should you feel the need ...

A little something that might just help with the lack of camping trips while you recover...
Every time you would have gone camping, write down how many nights you would have gone for and put the money away
When you are better, add up all the nights and either take a long break (money will already be there) or several shorter breaks to make up for the ones you missed.
thanks for all the lovely messages folks. I should get my op the middle of next week and will be able to determine how long its going to be to recover and get back out there. Cant even drive at present which is a pain in the backside. As for our dog Beanie. We were warned not to bring him to our new house by the council, so for the time being he is staying at his granny's house. We see him every day however, and if we do manage any trips away this year he will be coming with us. Im also taking some legal advice on what to do about him, as we are looking at the option of having him trained as a balance dog - which will mean he will be classed as a guide dog for my wife. They wouldnt dare refuse a guide dog!!
Ooohh I want to be camping. not unpacking (in pain)

Dezzie, you have my complete sympathy believe me I know how you feel! We have had to cancel our May break and summer is touch and go at the mo!
Anyway I hope your op goes ok and you are out about soon!

------------- It always rains on tents. Rainstorms will travel thousands of miles, against prevailing winds for the opportunity to rain on a tent.
