Try the picnic rugs, much cheaper, we have 4 that cost us £16 for them all, alot cheaper than a carpet.   17

agreed on a smaller tent

bit impractical on a larger one, as you are looking at taking 20 picnic rugs then

Hi Alphonso,

Sorry I have not been on here for a few days and have only just read your message.

Yes they will be our Royce one's, I spoke with Clive, the Editor at Camping Magazine a few weeks back about this and he is going to let me know once he has some feedback.

We have made a carpet for one of his own tents and I hope that once he has tested it along with the rest of the panel then this will then give everyone a clearer understanding as to why a Royce carpet is so different from all others that are currently available. Until this is published the price of a Royce carpets cannot be justified which is why I have not driven the process any faster forward.

Just to give you some more information though, we have just received the test results back for the thermal efficiency of the carpets, which is the main reason we developed them, and they are pretty convincing.

The carpet was tested over a solid bed of ice with an ambient room temperature of 19 degrees and readings where taken over an 8 hour period. The carpet maintained a surface temperature of between 14 and 15 degrees. the same test was then carried out with a carpet from one of the big 3 lets say and their carpet retained 5 degrees for just a few minutes before dropping to the sub level ice temperature of minus 3.

Anyway hope you will be taking up the test Alphonso with Clive and I look forward to hearing your thoughts in the near future.

Regards

Gary

p.s. It may also be worth you putting your name down whilst your about it for the Royce tent test which we hope to be ready to launch by spring next year !!

Gary...

There's no guarantee I'll be chosen, there are 29 other members on the panel, and I've got to presume that most would have shown an interest... Unless you're prepared to make 30 carpets for testing...

After reading your last post I hope I'm one of the lucky ones chosen, but I'll have to wait and see... I'll seend an email to Clive again mentioning this thread and see if I can get myself pushed up the list a bit [;)]

we got a carpet to go with our tent partly cos my hubby works in a shop and we got a huge discount and mainly to stop the dogs claws going through the build in groundsheet. hoping it'll make it warmer too when we go camping later in the year.

Hey Gary...

Clive got in touch via email today to ask if it was OK to pass on my email to you. So hopefully he'll be in touch soon with my contact details... Looks like I got lucky and I'll be "road-testing" one of your carpets...

Well chuffed

But nowhere near as good, trust me we've used picnic rugs for the past 3 years and have only just bought a fitted carpet and what a difference it makes.

I took the advice of people here and this year for the first time I have used 3 picnic rugs that almost cover the whole floor, and the differencce in warmth and comfort is unbelievable.

We did the same thing and yes it works a treat.

Friends laugh when I tell them my tent has a fitted carpet but I wouldn't be without it. The carpet rolls down really neatly and hardly takes up any room when packing. I too used to make do with picnic blankets but you can't beat the real thing. A worthwhile investment if you have some spare cash.
