Oh Val, I know how you feel.     It would be far easier to leave behind holdall, chair, beer, a ton of extra food etc, and one husband.

When it is just the kids and me, we can manage in half the space that we need when Richard tags along.

Mind you, you will be pleased to know that according to metcheck we may well be waking up to a lovely white world tomorrow.

I haven't got to water the plants in the garden or top up the pond now...

Well you'll all be pleased and no doubt surprised to hear that we arrived in...blazing sunshine. In fact it was warm enough for the kids to put on their swimsuits and go paddling in the burn while Hubby and I put up the tent in shorts and t-shirts. Yup it got bloomin' cold at about 2am but we were prepared for that. There was the odd bit of drizzle each morning but by every lunchtime it was at least dry, we did have a bit of  sunshine here and there and it was warm enough to sit outside the tent each evening.

Weather forecast my rear end. Sleet? Hah! Just goes to show. I'd have been gutted if we hadn't gone and the weather was this nice. It was a lovely campsite (new one to us) and we had a great time.

I've pulled it all out of course and repacked it and there will be enough space now for the coolbox, two coolbags, four weekend bags, the beer and the kids. Pmsl! That sounds very familiar.

 

Mr F tried to load the car to come back from a cottage holiday a few years ago, and was getting in a right strop. His temper wasn't improved by me mentioning that he'd started with entirely the worng stuff, and left huge great gaps as a consequence.

He stomped off in a huff and I repacked the car in a jiffy, even finding room for the infernal guitar comfortably. After all, this was just our clothes and dog stuff, no camping kit at all.

I was very tempted to leave him to his sulk and drive home alone, but as we were in Cornwall I thought this was possibly a little unfair. I don't think he spoke to me until we got this side of the New Forest.
