I spent 10 days camping in the Scottish Highlands with a mate, in an old 2 man Vango tent, one August, and it rained and rained and rained. But we had a great time. Decent wet weather clothing, polyester and polyester fleece layers are good for keeping you dry. Avoid cotton and anything that stays damp. Days were spent walking in the rain, nights were spent pitching tent and sleeping in the rain, but despite the weather we stayed comfortable by just keeping sleeping bags dry and sleeping in our clothes. Found plenty of shelter under trees for cooking during the day, and a tarp and some rope makes a great makeshift shelter.
Keep smiling, and you'll have fun!
