Bought a cheap pro action tent from Argos £44 and went to Ashfield caravan park,Dalton piercy about 5 miles from home on Saturday just gone.

Arrived in fairly heavy rain got the tent pitched in about 45 minutes, there was 6 of us.It rained non stop Saturday but the tent stood up to it well and the weather didn't spoil our 1st attempt as it was a lovely park to stay.We had planned on moving down to Whitby on the Sunday but after seeing the weather forecast decided to stay another day at Ashfield this time, better weather and very enjoyable.

I plan on upgrading later but for now i'll just use this set up a few times next trips im considering are Whitby,York areas happy camping all 17

Glad you enjoyed your first trip. Not bad £44 for a tent and it withstood the rubbish weather.

We too started off with an Argos cheapie and then upgraded when we knew camping was going to be for us!

hey, thats just what we did too last week, a pro action tent from Argos for £44 loved it... must admit to going out and buying a khyam 8 man tent that you can stand up in for our next trip.  But we thought for our first attempt we would just buy a cheap tent to have a go.

We bought an Khyam Ontario 8, I notice you have one spaceangel.  I am waiting to hear from my tent people tomorrow to see if they can get me the sun porch with the zip off bit !

Can't wait for our next trip, as soon as the sun shines we are off for a couple of nights for a try of our new tent 17

Hi Mickey & welcome to the forum 17

If the weather was bad but you still enjoyed it, then I think you can safely call yourself 'a camper' now 17

Its so good to see someone approaching thier first trip sensibly. Getting a cheap tent to see if its for them is a very wise decision indeed. Well done Mickey and the others.   Too many just dive in head first, spend a fortune and next thing you know its next seasons bargain buy on ebay.

We did the same as you May day bank holiday weekend and had a great time, same tent too!

Be warned though as that weekend has led to me cancelling our planned summer holiday, and spending a large chunk of that on a new tent (coleman weathermaster xl) and all the kit to go with it. Went away the end of May for 3 nights with all the new gear, and we are away again next weekend can't wait.

I think I can safely say that we are all hooked, should have done it years ago.

My first post so hello to all.

Glad you enjoyed your trip. Be careful now on here, it's so addictive and you'll be spending a fortune as you will never have enough kit!
