I commited the cardinal sin of forgetting to pack the corkscrew/tin opener. Hubby not impressed he couldn't get his wine open.

He now buys wine with screw tops (just in case I forget again....)

We have only ever forgotten the very first thing normally packed, all of my 3yr olds meds (she has Cystic Fibrosis). We were 75 miles away when i realised. We pulled into locherbie and i ran to the nearest pharmascist explained the situation and he phoned our surgery who agreed for them to give us Flucloxacillin 3 bottles, ketovite tablets ketovite liquid, vitamin E, co-amoxiclav, fortunitly i always keep her creon in my bag or she wouldn't be able to have anything to eat.

last weekend we went hours drive to a camsite, sh!t i took a differant rucksack.

Fortunitly inlaws had a bottle on their mantle piece and drove the hour to give it to us phew.

The funny part was I was stood in my shed with my mallet in my hand thinking " imagine going and forgetting the mallet what would we do". Got there and searched high and low saying to OH that I had stood in shed thinking about it..lol I was convinced it had to be there somewhere but had to borrow one from a fellow camper and upon our return there it was on the floor of my shed..lol. But hey don't beat your selves up about it, I have never been and not forgotten something. I too have computer check sheets, the works yet I always forget something

Its not that I exactly forgot something, I just took the wrong thing.

You see, the last time we went away, I packed my daughters knickers, not mine. She is a slim size 10. I,on the other hand, am not!!. I discovered my mistake in the evening. I was stuck in the showers trying to comprehend  why the wretched things wouldn't fit?? Realising that they weren't mine, then desperately struggling to release my trapped legs, then wondering what to do?

Go comando, of course,  and then wash the only pair I had got in shampoo, and dry in the sun, ready for tomorrow!

I did the reverse, and went to the Peaks without a jumper. Did you know it's impossible to buy jumpers in July, even when it's f-f-f-freezing?

We're quite good on the not forgetting front, as most of our stuff lives in two crates in the loft and stays packed and ready to go. However, I sense a catastrophe about to happen as the peg collection is now far too large to fit in the crate and the poles for the bedroom are kept in a separate bag, with the groundsheet, or the tent is too heavy to get up into the loft. We could easily go away with no pegs or sans poles.

We also have lists, Mr F is positively anal about them. There are at least three, sorted according to location of item, order it goes in the car (Mr F goes into meltdown when we have to pack differently because I've bought something new, the order differs from his list), and alphabetically. I'm sure there are more.

It takes Mr F roughly twice as long to do all the ticking off of lists as it takes me to pack the bags and load the car. This is no bad thing, it stops him from getting under my feet and generally interfering.
