I've just re-proofed our 25 year old Raclet frame tent (a 6-berth, can't remember the name). Left it overnight and it dried a treat, then started to pack it all away single-handed. I was congratulating myself on how well it was all going, when I snagged a corner, tripped and snapped one of the poles. These are either duralumin or aluminium tubing, and I really want to replace the pole as the tent has been a family friend, standing up to a force 6 storm once (when some caravans were blown away).
I've spent hours trying to source a supplier. can anybody point me in the right direction please?
Most independent camping shops have a 'box of spare poles'. My local shop sells them for £1 each. You will need to take the damaged pole with you to make sure you get the correct diameter replacement. Don't worry too much if you find a pole which is longer than your broken one, you can cut them quite easily with a hack saw.
Thanks JK98, but can't find an independent supplier locally (mid Kent). There used to be an excellent place in the Medway Towns, which has now closed down. Any one got any ideas for independents in Kent?
