We've missed you regularly posting Stevosmummy, good news about your dad, I hope everything goes well.  Don't feel guilty about your camping stuff or going camping you will probably be more than ready for the break.

We don't mind you moaning, lots of best wishes 17.

Katie

Pleased to hear your dad is doing well stevosmummy.  Go on your two nights away, you sound like you need it.  Are there other people around for your dad?  I'm sure he would probably want you to go and you could also prove this friend wrong about camping and hotels 17

You'll probably come back feeling totally refreshed and destressed, and that will be good for your dad aswell as you.

Good luck with it x

Sorry to hear about your dad Stevosmummy, hopefully he will recover just fine.
I would go on your short break, you can easily get back if required. It sounds like you need a bit of 'me' time right now.

I understand exactly how you feel. My FIL had heart surgery around 17 months ago and it was a very stressful and worrying time. Even several weeks after he was home we still felt guilty even thinking about camping but were encouraged to go by both FIL and MIL.

We all need a way to cope with the worry/stress and if camping is your way of doing that (as it is ours) then you should go. Without recharging your batteries, you wont be able to be so helpful and supportive as you would if refreshed and rested.

FIL is in hospital again at the moment after falling and breaking his hip (resulting in a hip replacement). He had complications after surgery due to the previous heart problems and we were going to cancel a camping weekend. MIL went mad and told us we must go and recharge. We were only going to be an hour away so could leave the tent etc and rush back if necessary.

Go take a break and refuel, you will feel better for it honest.

Hope your dad makes a speedy recovery

Angie

My dad had quadruple heart bypass last August, today he played 18 holes of golf with my son.

It will take him a while to recover, but my dad is now fitter than he ever was. We're so glad his heart problem was spotted before it was too late, I'm sure you feel the same way too.

My brother in law had a triple by pass 15 years ago and is still going strong at 78!  Your father should be fine.

a moan is better out than in i say. hope your dad feels 100% soon.

Try not to feel guilty about going. i hope you go and enjoy yourself. If you asked your dad about going am betting he would say get yourself off.  at least your friend will know who has slept in her bed before her!!.   thats what i like about camping, only we have slept on our airbed and we know what we have done on it. not like in a hotel. goodness knows how many have slept done goodness knows what in it!!!

Stevosmum I hope he is getting better and if you can do it a little break will do you good, refresh your batteries. But are you sure about taking your freind? you need a break and if you are going to have to make an effort to impress her with the joys of camping will it not be better to leave her at home and take her another time you will be able to relax and do your own thing which is what you need right now. And the lovely place you are going to needs to be appreciated without any hasall - I wa at Derwent Wateer on xmas day last year. (not camping though I have family there)

Caraline I know exactly what you mean about the beds if I leave my holidays utill it is too cold to camp I hate having to sleep in an hotel I take a cheap shower curtain to put on my bed and tell room service to just leave my room I am the same with the kettles and cups that you find in the rooms too I always buy water and take my travel kettle and my own cup as I know the hotel ones are just rinsed in the bathroom.

Glad you're dad is on the mend!  Get him home and settled in, then  go for a couple of nights ,aybe in a week or so.  You sound like you're ready for a break yourself and at least you know he will be over the worst.  if you feel guilty, well you shoudn't, but you don't have to go far and at least if there is a problem you can be contacted ifthat helps.  Go and enjoy!!
