i was just wondering what other campers have for dessert? (if they aren't full already )
really, i'm looking for something a bit different but ultra easy that doesn't involve cold milk or chilling as we dont use EHU/electric cool box and don't frequent many sites that have ice pack freezing.
i've done the usual custard with or without fruit/pie, rice pudding and just fruit (tinned or fresh) and BBQ banana's but would like to try something different.
are there any desserts that can be made with cold/hot water? or any other concoctions that other campers have thrown together but are scrummy?
we really go fot it on the desseert front ......................... we have youghurts lol
TBH the only time buy chocolate is when we are camping i buy the funsize twix and time out and stuff cos i think they look great in the coolbox .......... i know that makes a bit weird but hey ho lol

A favourite our kids have made on their DofE expeditions is 'banoffee pudding'.
Slice bananas into a dish. Take a 500ml drinks bottle and add one packet of butterscotch angel delight and two tablespoons of milk powder. Fill the bottle to about two-thirds with water, replace the lid, and shake the bottle vigorously for about one minute. Pour IMMEDIATELY over the bananas (if you don't it sets in the bottle!).
PS If you want to really impress the kids, try 'slicing' the bananas before you unpeel them! (Take a longish pin and pierce the skin at regular intervals all the way down one side of the banana, poking the pin right into the flesh and then wriggling it from side to side to 'slice' the flesh inside - the beauty of this is that it 'reseals' itself do that you can do this well ahead and the slices stay fresh).
if you've been out for the day & there's a lidls on your way back to camp they have a box of 20 frozen profiteroles - they only take about an hour to defrost & come with a sachet of chocolate sauce that you warm up in a mug of hot water - 1 of our favs & sometimes they're on offer for £1 a box - bargain!

Angel delight is great - butterscotch with bits of crunchie in and banana is nice. Mixture of layers always good too! Apart from that we tend to buy custard pots and jelly pots as you don't need to keep them in a fridge and cakes as we are on our hols :)
We sometimes take a packet of batter and make sweet pancakes, jiff lemon / fresh lemon / sugar / chocolate spread / berries etc...- Hubby and daughter have even been known to go and buy an ice cream from the on site shop while i cook the pancakes and have pancakes and ice cream. YUMMY!
arhhhhhhh butterscotch angel delight, can remember in the dim and distant past when doing DofE we lived on this and vestas..anything we could cook on our beloved triangia. May just have to go and buy some!
Butterscotch Angel Delight, probably child safe now but we used to be given loads of it by our friend that worked at the factory (well swapped fresh chickens or it) it used to have all sorts of chemicals and E numbers in it. Our daughter would end up high as a kite eating a whole bowl full, until we realised what was causing the hyper activity. Thinking about that maybe i should have a bowl full see if i could be a bit more active

Stewed apple (you could buy tinned) mixed with vanilla yoghurt with crushed gingernuts of digestives over the top. I've done this at home and on Woodcraft Folk camps and it always goes down well.
