I've been reading these forums for a little while now and I thought I'd tell you about my week away; just to redress the balance a little.

Me, my OH and my two girls have just got back from a superb week at Greenhills Holiday park near Bakewell.

Firstly their customer service was great. Without Glynis' help, we wouldn't have had a holiday at all. Next we had a great pitch with stunning views or the hills.

Durning the week the site was fairly empty but people were still friendly and pot-washing created plenty of chances for some friendly chatter.

When the weekenders turned up and the place got full, no one broke in to our tent, people pretty much kept to the 23:00 noise limit, there were more kids than you could shake a stick at but there were no groups of bullying or anti-social kids hanging around all night.

There was plenty of socialising ad drinking, a couple of groups of bikers but all in all, we had a very nice time away.

Being truthful, when the site got busy, one of my icepacks did 'go missing' for a while, but you know what? Even that couldn't spoil it for me though, especially when it turned up again just before we left the site.

The rain came and went and the sun shone and camping truly does make for a good holiday!

Genista

Welcome to the threads.

Sounds like you had a good time. We like Bakewell very much and have spent many good times in the area but not stayed on Greenhills. If you mark ( name. initials whatever) your freezer blocks with permanent marker pen they are less likely to roam.

Thanks.

My ice-packs are indeed marked with names and also numbers (so I know which one is has been frozen more recently.)

I went the other week for the first time ...  I'd like to confirm what I have just read about the site I stayed on.

The site was lovely, I chatted with various different families, one a foster mum, one blokes camping with his son his brother and another lady while we were washing our pots !!

My ice blocks where just where I left them in the freezer.... so was my beer !!

There were some groups of young lads and lasses (hark at me all of 35) but you know what I mean ... they had a bit of a party one night as it was a birthday (they put up balloons etc on their tents) but it was all quiet by 11pm.

The only time I was worried about my safety was when a load of ducks landed close by and I couldn't remember if we had zipped up the tent or not !  ha ha do ducks even try and enter your tent ?

Oh and I was amazed at how many rabbits are about in the mornings (during a 6am loo run !!).

It's nice to hear you've had a fab time eventhough your ice pack went on it's own holiday for a while.17
