I ought to really like AO sites as they are quiet etc etc, so have always been slightly puzzled as to why I don't feel that enthusiastic about the one local to me. I mean, I think its fine or wouldn't keep using it for odd solo weekends but I don't rave about it like others do on here.
But reading the posts above I think I may have a clue as to why: people have written that the campers on AO sites are 'all couples' and 'less sociable'. So perhaps as a single person when I'm there I feel slightly conspicuous, in a way that I don't in a more socially-mixed set up, and I might notice it more if people don't smile or say hello when we pass. I guess that's possible.
Hi,
we always say hello to other people we pass on way to / from the shower block, around the site or whatever.Only it seems from our last trip that the only one's who bothered to pass the time of day were caravanners or motorhome owners. All the people camping near to us never spoke once. Not really sure why that surprised us,but would have thought it would be the other way round so much for assumptions
