Last year I took a 6 man tent, table, chairs, stove, food clothes etc 2 adults, 2 children and a dog for a week away in a Suzuki Swift.... have to say glad I was driving so I wasn't cramped.  

I think there is a tendancy to over pack and take stuff just in case.... just in case of what?  Decide if you are cooking, take food on that basis, good sleeping bags and beds, good warm clothing, anything else is not necessary and are extra luxuries.

On the other hand I am buying a new bigger car and getting a trailer tent next year.... never again!  lol

hi, i have a Toyota aygo i manage to fit in,wine, tent,beds,chairs,table,wind breaks,sleeping bags,cooker, cooking and eating stuff, food,clothes,pee bucket,bbq,lamp,2 adults, 1 teen and a dog. in that order. lol  

i love it!

Transit van and never had a problem fitting anything in it .
Except the kids, they go in someone elses car .
