Hi..

Took our Idaho XL on her Maiden Voyage last weekend and loved every bit of it. Great site,, Good fellow campers and very welcoming owners.

Noticed Sat and Sun morning that the roof of the tent (Inside ) was wet with what looked like condensation !.  Is this normal ?

We are new to this camping malarkey and not sure if we done anything wrong.?

look forward to some good advice.

Cheers

Steve

I may be an ignoramous, but I've always held the view that if it ain't actually dripping into the tent, then it's not a problem.

Given the choice we would rather be camping.

Yes normal, just try to make sure all your vents are open (prop open all the velco slats around the top) to reduce it as much as possible

Condensation inside a tent is very normal, especially if it's a cold night and the air is moist.

You can't stop breathing or sweating (primary sources of moisture in a tent) but there are a few things you can do to reduce condensation.

1) Ventilate. Leave vents open if at all possible, plus the upper few inches of doors and windows if you can manage this without allowing rain to get in.

2) Reduce moisture inside the tent. No wet dogs, leave wet jackets in the car, no drying wet clothes or towels in the tent and no boiling pots or kettles.

Keep an old towel to wipe down the inside of the flysheet in the morning and air the tent well asap. Pay particular attention to bedroom pods and bedding. Air all bedding every day, plus under camp mats and airbeds. Nothing worse than clammy bedding.

Agree with Val, try to turn air beds on their sides and let them 'breathe' give the bags a bit of an air outside as well as any bedding.  Remember if you use a heater in the tent this will also add to the overall heat v cold air situation and add to condensation.
