Yes..well, we've forgotten our tent before too.
Wouldn't think it was possible really but it was one of those ones that came in a bundle with other stuff, in a huge holdall except it turned out that, after our previous trip, we'd put everything back in it BAR the tent (wouldn't fit!)

Didn't find out til we arrived 90 minutes from home and tried to set it up though.

Mind you, turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to us coz the next week we thought, sod it, we'll get a decent tent instead and we're now proud owners of our beloved Montana 6 and FAR too much other gear instead

If we'd have had our tent that weekend, we'd have had the most miserable time cooped up in it. Now we have a great time

Wine!

Last year. I stopped off at my mums in Bristol to break up the journey down south. Put my bottle of Chablis in her fridge to keep it chilled before puttingh into my cool box the next morning.

Set off mice nad early. Spent ages putting my tent up in the sun (the one day we had any last year). Finally it was all up, beds ready etc etc. So off I popped for a nice shower and when I  got back to my tent I put the dinner on and decided a nice cold glass of Chalblis would go down just nicely when SHOCK HORROR!! I realised it was still sat in my mums fridge!!17

Rammed dinner down and made a speedy trip to Morrisssons for a luke warm bottle instead!!

This season I have forgotton to take mugs 3 times !!!

No mugs = no cuppa = tantrums lol

OMG at an hour to boil water. I would have gone nuts lol

Angie

i think hysterical laughter was close to going nuts lol. (hence pics of us eating in the dark btw!)

since forgetting the windbreak, we made a list. we have 3 areas where camping stuff is stored. first a paper list, now an excel spread sheet tickable once we've packed each item. fingers crossed it'll make us more organised!

angie-considered keeping some mugs in the glovebox??

Good idea but they wont be forgotten again. The mug police stop me as we leave for everytrip (OH & DS) lol

I am worried we will forget the tent poles on Friday as we are picking the tent up from the store (been repaired).

Long drive home if we do forget them!

Earlier this year we got set up on site and I wondered why it was taking so long to blow up the airbed. OH comes in and says 'what's that hissing noise'. I look at him blankly, then realise the bung is missing from the airbed. Thankfully, we had a spare in another bag. Still don't know what happened to the original!

We went camping and forgot to pack the regulator for the Campingaz - luckily picking the gas up reminded us to buy a new one.  Now keep the regulator in the car glove compartment, and have a spare!

Also probably would be annoying to forget a torch.

Lists are definately a good idea.

My partner and I have a packing list each and we compare notes to make sure we have not left out anything between us.

We then tick things off the list as we load them into our cars.

Therefore, I am pleased to say we have not left anything major behind.

The only things that spring to mind are items in the fridge, like milk, eggs, onions, mashmallows, juice etc., all can be purchased in a local shop or en-route at service stations.

When I went camping on my own in Jun 09, I forgot the eggs and onions from the fridge. I got some onions right away from the local supermarket as I remembered I did not take any from home. However, I failed to realise I left the eggs behind too, and my first breakfast was without eggs, as it was too early for the reception that sold eggs to open, not a happy bunny I can tell you.

I shall expand my list to include every food item to be packed.

There is also a task list for tasks such as run down all rechargeable items such as toothbrush, lantern, torches, camera and fully charge them again shortly beforehand; check and fill up lighter for the BBQ, check and replenish gas canister for cookers etc...

Not packing the eggs and onions is very trivial compare to a tent I am sure 17

I have to admit, we too have a pretty comprehensive list now, split down into "His 'n' Hers"
His stuff, he packs from the garage into car and roofbox and I sort the indoor stuff (clothes, toiletries, food/household etc)
Obviously, I always double check HIS list
I'm starting to create a separate food list too, for different kinds of stay. Although this usually becomes more of a menu planner/shopping list rather than what to take with us.

I thought that I was being clever last trip when I remembered the gas bottle at the last minute. Then arrived on site, set the kitchen up and realised that i had forgotten all of the pans ! Not only that but our sons asked what they could play with whilst we were setting up, which is when I realised that I had also forgotten any toys for them. Ooops ! 17

On one of our early trips, we arrived at the site, with Older DS and his mate, baby and the dog, intending to pitch our larger tent and a small tent for DS and mate.  Get out the tents and lay it all out, look for the tent pole bag for the big tent, to discover it was left at home.  We were about 90 mins from home and hubby was really tired.  So we pitched the pup tent and I slept in there with the two lads, and sent hubby, baby and dog home to sleep the night and come back in the morning.  I got back from my shower and the big tent was pitched.

Now I always ask hubby if he has the poles.
