I'm sure I'm not the only one...but this year my hayfever is a lot, lot worse than it has been in recent years (I'd almost convinced myself it had almost gone!).  I'm going camping in 3 weeks (yay!), however I'm really worried that being that close to the grass will be a nightmare.  So a couple of questions...

1) Do people suffer worse being that close (it's been years since i've been camping in peak hayfever season)

2) Any secret methods for helping (I'm back on the tablets, but will be on eye drops and nasal spray by then!)

Any tips you have would be fantastic, as I am really worried - my hayfever is a complete nightmare at the moment and I can only imagine it's going to get worse in a tent ;(

Have you tried that herbal balm you put on around your nose? The idea is that is stops you from inhaling the pollen. My daughter uses it and her hayfever is so much better than it used to be.

I suffer from bad hay fever too but have just spent 4 days camping and didn't find that the symptoms were any worse than normal. I was really surprised, as I was in a field surrounded by long grass.

I use nasal spray and eye drops daily, rather than tablets. I also start taking them at the start of the hay fever season rather than leave it until I get symptoms as this helps to build up your resistance. If you're going camping in 3 weeks time I'd start taking them now, rather than leave it to a few days before hand. I also found that wearing sunglasses for most of the day helped.

I have become a bore on this of late.

My son really suffers badly with hayfever, he is on prescription anti histimes over the max dose for his age and he still suffers. He also has the eye drops as some days his eyes are nearly closed over .

BUT I have had a breakthrough , at the schools summer fete we had the local bee keepers selling their honey. I got some for him to try (teaspoon a day).

The results have been instant, his eyes are still irritated slightly but the running nose and sneezes have all but gone.

A good few others I know also bought some - all with the same happy results.

So if you are middlesex I have the number to call. At work they have the herfordshire honey mans number.

Shall def buy the cream (I used to have one years ago and until I saw this post had totally forgotten about it - no idea what the brand was but shall give this a go!).

I'm prepared to pretty much do anything so thanks for the tips!  Here's also hoping I'm not allergic to cornwall...at the moment I'm definitely allergic to herts and even the hotel room I'm in - in nottinghamshire!

I have the herts honeyman's number for you.

He is local to Watford. Ideally you have to be in a 5 mile radius of where it is made for the really local  pollens etc.
