We have tried to sell our tent on ebay it didn't sell,so I've relisted it starting £69.00.
This tent dose have a small rip in the inner tent near the pocket which has been repaired.
Do you think the price is too high or do you think its luck???
Any advise welcome
thanks
Debbie
What is it? It's difficult to say whether it's a good or bad price otherwise?
I found that things sell better when started with a low price, I think folks like to bid when something is low and then get carried away and keep bidding. The trouble is you have to be very brave to do that as there is always the danger that you will only get one bidder who gets a bargain!
The answer I suppose is a low start price with a reserve, but I think you pay a bit more for that. I've done this a couple of times but always said in the text what the reserve is so that people know where I'm aiming.
I think a lot of it is down to luck, also because the tent is used, sometimes its more helpful to put pictures of the actual tent, as opposed to the catalogue picture, particularly the damaged area.
The thing is you are obviously trying to recoup some of your costs however its sometimes worth having a look around to see what other tents are available for around the price you are looking for, iykwim. just to see what you are competing against.
Then there is the thing that personally I would rather spend a little bit extra on a new tent with guarantee as a 2nd hand, and especially if it has already got damage however minor.
Have you also tried the likes of the free ads and gumtree, you might have more success there than on ebay.

I've just had a look at your listing and would just comment that often a photo of a damaged aresa can allay people's fears. Can you dig out the inner tent and add a photo of the damage?
That said, I think luck plays a big part on e-bay.
Looks a lot of tent for the money to me, and should be a good buy for someone.
Definitely show some proper pictures of the tent, including damage. Also, "collection only" puts a lot of people off - they think they have to actually go and collect from Staffs, when in fact they or you could arrange a courier. You can get some good quotes from the www.Parcel2go.com web site - you may well find you can get it couriered for £30 to anywhere in mainland UK, in which case if some wins it for £100 then it's still a good bargain if they pay £130 including courier. Also, you are saying "cash on collection" which again worries a lot of people. At least if you allow them to pay by PayPal then they have some sort of guarantee that the tent is being described accurately.
Actually, re sending by courier.....here's an idea of a quote....
The whole package 30kg, 80cm x 48cm x 42cm would be £29 + vat with DHL, booked via Parcel2Go.
Or BETTER, would be to send the tent and poles as 2 separate packages as it does away with the weight surcharge...example 20kg, 80cm x 30cm x 30cm for the tent material parts £6.89 + vat (again with DHL). and another package of 10kg, 80cm x 18cm x 12xm ALSO £6.89+ vat. So the whole lot would be less than £14 + vat.
Just something to think about and would help you reach a wider audience!
Thanks for your advice,we are going to take a picture of the damage and see if that helps and if anyone dose ask for delivery we will use the link that petemills has told us about.
Having sold a bit on E-Bay I would say that finishing at a good time ie evening, weekend is a must or else people that are interested as watchers will not be online to bid.
