Just read on another forum that you should seal taped seams on new tents before you use them.I've just bought a gelert stratus do I need to do this before using it or would it have been done in manufacture

Tents tend to leak at pressure points on the seams. You'd be best waiting for it to be leak tested (won't have to wait long in this country) and then apply seam sealer only to those points that drip.

some do and some don't! but to be safe when away have a tube/bottle of seam sealer handy. it's no big deal just run over the seams when dry.

now having a backup tent "1st aid kit2 to hand is another matter (it can get obsessive) but fun! just wait till you've done a few camps and you will be there with your "little" bit of kit ready for whatever.

Just take a tube of seam sealer with you,if you get a little leak,wait till its dry again and apply on the inside of the tent on the offending seam.
