So anyone want to give me any tips?

I have a huge 10 berth tent to seal the seams on today - anything I should know before starting?

Are you sealing all seams or have you found a leak on a particular seam?
I take sealer away and if there is a leak wait until tent dries then seal seam inside and out and that's it where leak was. I've never sealed a whole tent.
One thing which may be very obvious the tent must not be wet when sealing and the seam should be clean. Good luck.

Good Morrning Little Lemon.
try clicking on thse 2 threads below and they will give you some ideas.

May i just ask, why are you having to to seam seal a 10 man tent?
Is the tent new? if so, surely you should not have to seam seal.

Well I read the instructions and they said to erect the tent, seal seams and weather it before first use!

We have it up and hubby has gone back to Go Outdoors in Oxford to get teh sealant but I have looked and cant really see where needs sealing TBH 17!

Am tempted to leave the tent up for a day or 2 and pray for rain and see how it performs.

I expect the manufaturers of the tent are covering their backs re a potential leaky tent maybe?  Along with the line in the instructions somethin like , No tent can be 100% waterproof, extreme weather etc etc......!

Will take a look at those other threads but may do as Yorkkie has suggested and just take the sealant away incase it is needed.

Hi Little Lemon

We bought this tent in the week too. I have to admit that so far I have been a bit lazy and haven't even got it out of the bag yet to check whether or not the internal seams are taped. Assuming they are (?) I would guess that, as you say,  GoOutdoors are covering their backs in recommending that people also seal the outside of the seams. At the mo I am not intending to do so unless I find a problem with a seam.

Best wishes with the new tent. Btw how long did it take you to put thing up?

About an hour but we were working in a confined space so threading the poles through was a bit problematic. Hopefully on a campsite and some space it would be alot quicker.

Let me know how you get on with yours?

I have looked at the seams now it is up and cannot see any that look like they need to be sealed .  I think me and the girls may actually sleep in it tonight!! LOL  They want to but because its down the side not the back of our house I wont let them sleep in it alone.

The only thing that I was slightly dissapointed with was that some of the Guys seen to be twisted.  A bit annoying but not the end of the world.

I did buy one spare pole and a ball of elastic from Go Outdoors yesterday.  The pole was £3 odd and so was the elastic.  Hubby says he'll trim the pole down to the right size before I go away but obviously I am hoping not to have to replace any - would rather have a spare though, than have to hunt around in Cornwall.  I am off in mine in 2 weeks for 2 weeks, so I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for starting this thread.I never thought of looking for seam sealing threads
I have just bought a brand new outwell jersey s pop up tent, and the instructions say to seal the seams as an added precaution.I did come across a very brief couple of videos on youtube showing how to do it,but they were very brief.

Do you have to seal the seam whilst the tent is pitched or is it possible to do it just with the material? I would like to sell a tent but the seams deinifitely need sealing in places or I will be selling a leaky tent!
