Tried this thread on the tent info pages without success, so will try here.  Will applying a waterproofing product improve the poor hh of a tent?

Welll.......maybe. Yes. Up to a point.  But given that waterproofing products are not cheap and tents with low HH tend to have other poor quality componants (like just about everything) the expression "Throwing good money after bad" springs to mind. What kind of tent is it?

This one?

I would not bother, tbh. It's not going to be the rain coming it that will make the inside of that tent wet, it will be the condensation due to the almost complete lack of ventilation and you (plus friend??) breathing and pespiring inside a small nylon bag. In fact putting waterproofing on it will probably make the condensation worse. Really it's a use-once-or-twice-then-throw-away tent. The Fabsil to reproof it will probably cost as much as the tent.

Yep, that's it thanks Val.  TBH have used it a couple of times with no real condensation problem but would probably only use it in the best of weather conditions anyway.

Hi there,

I may be able to through a bit of extra advice/information your way.

Condensation is a hugh problem and many people think a tent is leaking when it's not. However you can do a couple of quick test to work out if the tent is faulty.

Try a hose pipe or water can on the suspected area if possible to reach. other wise with the tent down, find the area of concern and grap the area through your hand to make a small bag, outer surface of tent to middle and then fill with a pint of water or so, looking like a big water balloon. if water leak through with this then you may have a leak, otherwise if the area of leak is not consistant or no water penitrate with either of these little test then it more than likley to be condensation.

It has been know for tent to apparently leak when its not been raining, Condensation again!
