Cotton and polycotton are both cooler in heat as cotton is breathable.
Some people say that drying time is alot longer than polyester but we disagree.
More than once this season, our sons poly pup tent took longer to dry than a huge cotton pyramid !
Pack sizes can be larger but then again, a massive poly tent can be just as big or even larger.
Hope this helps

We did a couple of years in a polyester tent in France. The trick is to have one that you can open right up on more than on side to get a breeze through.

we upgraded to our current investment outwell norfolk lake from our polyester sunncamp vario 500 and we definitely say they is now comparison. We too are off to France in 2010. Yes the tent weighs alot more but that comes with quality. First trip out weathered it well as it snowed.
GET INVESTING IN THE WINTER WHILE THEY MAYBE CHEAPER!!

we've got the zanzibar & think its brill - used it 1st in May & we had high winds, brilliant sunshine & loads of rain - tent dried in no time & its a lot quieter when it rains than the poly tent - if it makes any sense when its hot outside its cool because of the fabric, & when its raining outside you don't feel damp inside & its light & airy - we've also got the Vango Icarus as a weekend tent & I would also recommend this tent

If you are going somewhere warm, then polycotton or canvas will make it much more bearable inside the tent.
You only have to go to a tent display on a warm day and stand inside a nylon tent, then go inside a polycotton/canvas tent,it is so much cooler.
We went away 21 June for 10 days and while it was sunny every day 23 to 24c max,it was over 50c in the tent, just standing inside made you sweat, even with all the doors open.

For me there is no going back, I wont ever buy or use a pollyester tent again, as sue says above just have a nosey round a display ( assuming you can find a cotton one there, most decent displays from the better retailers do ) you will notice the difference !
Cotton / Pollycotton tents are as everyone says a lot quieter, they dont flap around in the wind, they feel so much more cosy and smell better. Yes heavier, but well worth the ectra money.

We have the Zanzibar, and totally agree with the other comments. Our Zanzibar is so much cooler, not that we need it with the current weather !! But will be just the job for France. Happy Camping !!

Hi, what are cotton and polycotton ones like in colder weather/winter?
They do sound ideal for warmer climes.

They do sound ideal for warmer climes.
Warmer in low temps, cooler in higher
But be warned, after polycotton comes the next step.. cotton lol
Thing is, pc & cotton are breathable so no more feeling overheated and struggling to breath in high temps.
Once tried you wont go back :)
