Hi,

I have never bought a canopy for a tent before but have decided having upgraded to a better tent I would like to add a canopy to it.

I have the Gelert Meridian 8 but when I look at the canopy that is for sale I cannot make out how it fits to the tent and how much space it will offer.

Here is a link to the piccy, can anyone offer me advice on how this canopy will look once its on the tent? The piccy below suggests there are no sides to it etc, but surely that cannot be right, can it?

Yuk! That looks horrid and of little use. The Gelert website doesn't have photos of the Meridian canopy but I would have thought they made something similar as what they have for the Horizon, either this or, even better, this.

I can't imagine that there's any reasons why you can't use the Horizon canopy or porch on the Meridian.

I guess it has guy ropes/fabric that you throw over the top of the tent and fasten the other side (that is how they usually seem to work), however I agree with Former Scout that something with sides (as a minimum) is going to be well worth the extra money. We have just camped in the North East for a week and would have really struggled to cook without our version of the canopy with sides (link 1 supplied by Former Scout). The addition of a front door would have improved the experience even more - if Outwell did one I would definitely buy one!

Hey, thanks for the great advice so far guys.

Yeah, I definately want one as per Scouts links, just trying to work out if those models would fit with my Meridian.

Gotta say, I am surprised Gelert didn't add a decent porch for the Meridian.

How confident do you think I should be that the models in Scouts link would fit my tent?

Contact Gelert and ask them.  Failing that ask one of their retailers.

Hey Debbie,

I had seen thoose piccies and noticed that the text on the side of the canopy stated 'Canopy for Meridian' however, there is no sign of this canopy on any of the retailers websites.

The only one I can see is the one in the link in my original post, I don't think these are the same as the picture is pants.

I guess I will need to get in touch with Gelert, I go away again in 5 weeks and would like one before then.

Thanks for the help guys n gals,

Darren

If you google , there are a number of meridian canopies come up. Look at winfields website , they advertise the meridian canopy, but no pic of it , maybe call them and ask if they can email you a pic of it ,or email them linking to this thread and ask them if it is the same canopy in the photos on the tent reviews, they are also selling it on ebay, but I cant see a pic there either, although it does say a steeel framed canopy and the one you link to in the first post looks like fibreglass poles .
or start a new post for the attention of the member who posted the pics in the reviews asking where he bought his from?

try here

This site has the side porch with the enclosed door as well , which would also fit on the meridian .

The canopy in your first post looks like its the corvus canopy, not the side canopy for a meridian .

Hi

Did you find the correct (large) canopy for the Meridian? I am also looking for one. Hoping to get it a bit cheaper off season.

If you are after the porch with enclosed door that matches the Meridian then in 2009 it was badged as the Corvus 6+2 Canopy which is an exact copy of the Horizon enclosed porch but in the Meridian colours.

Not sure why they marketed it like that but they did, poor marketing in my opinion.

Hope that helps

Pretty poor marketing and clarity of information by Gelert. If they made things a lot clearer surely they would sell more. They have had supply issues this year so I suppose their attitude is why market something they cant deliver.
I do like all the tents in their Beyond range, nice colours good layouts very distinctive styling.

I brought the Outwell Montana this year as a choice over the Corvus 6+2 because i could not see the porch or canopy properly, lack of supply ment I would have had to get each item from a different supplier. The monty was clear to see what you can get and one dealer to supply all as a deal.
