I am due to pitch my tent on friday, and its given out to be a wash out.... its only the 2nd camping trip i will have been on, and the 1st was easy........ total sunshine all weekend.Im really worried we will look ridiculous while trying to manouver our tent into place!

I dont think im prepared enough for this.
Should i buy a heater? Im not on ehu, dont have the ehu stuff. So it would have to be gas.

Any advice appreciated.... i wish i could go on thursday to get sorted, then on friday i would be inside warm and cosy! :)

I wouldn't bother with a heater in July, but take extra layers and waterproofs.

You could call the site and check on conditions, we nromally just go for it unless our usual site says don't bother.

I am a big fan of camping in the rain, but we do have a large tent with canopy, wouldn't want to be stuck in a small dome all weekend.

I take a heater, purely for the evening/nights when it gets a bit cold.  I only used it a couple of times last year when I took it, but it certainly did help and was most welcome when I was trying to have a wash lol 17  I got the one from argos cos you can get the gas cheapish from wilkos.

Our tent is large enough (unlike our old one) not to be sat huddled up with no windows to see out of!  Like mrneillees says ring and check with the site that the ground is ok....but I did that once and when I got there it was under a foot of water ^%$^~ at /''/'##//!!!!!

In summer rain we just get on with pitching in shorts and T shirts, then as soon as the gear is out of the car and inside the tent we set off to the showers and have a good hot shower and dry clothes

Then it's just kettle on or ring pull pulled and sit and chill 17

Hi Bourne2100

we've pitched in the rain and late on a friday, one one occasion we were stuck in traffic and it was wet and nearly dark by the time we started pitching, considered sleeping in the car overnight, but its small and uncomfortable, so braved it and sorted it

its hard work but with a little planning then you can make it easier, like having the tent and poles where you can get to them first, followed by your bedding, etc

makes sure you take a good pair of boots and lots of warm socks

i have a rule about getting the beds together and sorted, straight after the tent has been pitched and pegged, so at least you know that your bed is waiting for you

take a hot water bottle for putting in the sleeping bag and a flask of tea/coffee/hot chocolate for when you've finished pegging and bedding, when your'e done, sit back and relax

have a great weekend,

happy camping
