......it has gone to be replaced by a Vango Tigris 600. The Aldi tent was great for a £60 tent but what let it down was the quality of the stitching. The first time out one of the peg points pulled out of the inner, not a big deal and fixable but not really what I wanted. The second time it was put up the stitching came away where the pole sleeve attached to the tent, this was the final straw.
It went back to Aldi for a full refund and then we spent ages looking around, reading reviews and agonising over what to get. It had to be tall, reasonably big and after coming back to a tent full of flies after a day out my wife insisted on having a sewn in groundsheet. We took delivery of our new Tigris 600 and ground sheet. Had a test pitching the other day which went real well and now looking forward to a weekend away to try it for real.
But it served a purpose , and tested your commitment to camping, at no cost also .To be fair, those sort of things happen in tents many times the cost of an Aldi tent .
Not all cheap tents are tacky, the £35 4 man from asda did very well on a 9 day camp at a music festival in spain - withstood a 70mph freak gale that destroyed many well known brands, cleaned up very well on return home, quite a sturdy tent considering the battering it took - sand storm, drunken pop revellers, food fights etc, and without being pegged or guyed due to `health & safety rules` It even withstood the good old british weather for 3 nights in the garden before its spainish trip, only gripe is it only fits two comfy not 4.
I have a River Dome from ARGOS, which I use for when the kids and I camp in the garden. It has stood up to extremely heavy raiin and strong winds. Never had a leak. The only reason I wouldn't take it away with me, is that it isn't really big enough, especially if the weather was lousy, as there is no room to sit inside.
I own an Argos Hyperdome,it's had every weather condition known to man, and woman, hurled at it without any problem, paid £99 for it, best bargain ever, though listening to weather forcast for August, it might not come out again this year. Glad we had a fortnight of unbroken sunshine in Crete.Hoping to get a cheapy to Balearics in Sept.
