anyone want to buy a damp ontario 8 ?!

I had the camping trip from hell this weekend, so much so I never want to camp again, I am so depressed :-(  Got back yesterday and we have nowhere to dry out the tent :-(

Firstly, big mistake to go camping with people who don't normally camp... and their kids.  Espically when they are not actually 'your' friends but the other peoples friends who you are camping with...

Then it rained and it was windy so we packed up and came home and tbh I feel like I never want to go camping ever again :-(

So do you live near Manchester and want to buy a tent cheap, soon as as it will need drying out in your back garden !!!

I'm not perfect, I've given up trying to have a tidy house and no matter how hard I try my kids faces are NEVER clean !

Try to hang fire a little until you have calmed down.  I must admit it's always a worry for us having to pack up in the rain as like you we have nowhere to dry the tent.  People tend to come on here and say, the garden, the bathroom, neither of ours are big enough, bannisters - we don't have any, garage - we don't have one, so I fully understand your problem there.  The fact you've made over 200 posts suggests that you are not new to camping but it sounds like this trip has just been a really bad experience and not just because of the weather.

I can't say what to do re your wet tent, but if there is any way at all that you can possibly get it dry then please stick with it and make your decision when you are feeling a little more level headed 17

Please don't give up yet.

We have the Ontario 8 which is a fab tent but can be a pig to dry if you live in a small flat like we do!!

Last trip it rained as we were packing up and the tent got soaked. As soon as we got home I removed the guys and then dried the tent as best I could with a soft towel.
I then spread it out (it filled the whole living room and was still folded up in places!) and every hour I turned it. I actually sent the boys to Grandma's house as we couldn't use the front room at all.
It took me a day and a half to get the thing dry and then I just left it loosely folded behind the settee for about a week until we got a dry day.
I took it out onto the village green to spread it out completely to check it over and then folded it up and put it away.

A pain to do at the time but I love camping and will do the same again if we get caught in the rain on leaving day!

IF the tent does end up unsaveable (and I really hope it doesn't), but IF it is, please can Helen and I have first refusal for buying the inners? (see my post Ontario 8 - bedroom for 4)

Thanks l
