What would you say is the best time to turn up at a site?

We will be turning up on Saturday to a medium sized campsite (Llyn Gwynant). They allow people in from 8am onwards, so trying to work out whats the best time to turn up.

My thoughts would be that most people who are already there will be there for the whole weekend, so won't be going anywhere. And those leaving Saturday morning, probably won't leave til 10-11am? Also, any decent spots that come up as people leave... do people move around to fill them?

Thanks in advance.

You usually need to be off site by noon so anyone leaving on Saturday will be leaving before this.

Some sites have rules as to what time you will be allowed on to the site to pitch (some let you on earlier to use facilities)
Some actually specifiy no arrivals before x o'clock as some sites have narrow approaches and so they need to allow time for people leaving the site to be gone before new arrivals come on site.

Once pitched I doubt anyone would bother moving to a recently vacated pitch.

Why not just ring the site and ask what time is best for you to arrive?

^ Hi, thanks. I did call them and they just said anytime after 8am!

Wasn't sure whether people move about or not. Will probably get there early, as it's no doubt going to take me about 3 hours to put the tent up!

Watch out for the tight turn into the campsite.....It's a bugger.

If I were planning to just turn up I'd go for a Thursday or a Sunday - in the early morning
