Ooooooh dear, after reading another thread RE Naughty shops, I just couldn't holdout any longer and went for a drive to Go outdoors (it's only a few mins drive 17) I knew it was a bad move as I would end up with something....anyway we get there and my daughter starts gasping...she said..'that tent's got a HUGE hole in it'...I thought yeah yeah it's prob a door open....but I was wrong 17  We wandered round a few on one side of the showground...nothing much doing, then went over to the other side and noticed loads of the tents were ripped/torn/cut. Not just a simple slits either. There was an outwell hartford XL in pieces, one side was almost completely missing 17 along with other tents that were 'slit'. I went inside and asked a worker what was going on, she said 'Oh it was maybe the weather, with it being wet/dry/wet/dry etc...I just looked at her and said, they look like they have been cut, she replied, well yeah that's what we thought, we got the police involved...I left the shop wondering why on earth would anyone do that? Are they really THAT bored?? I mean c'mon...thats a fair few quids worth of tents unsellable.

On a brighter note, the Bear Lake 6 wasn't cut, and I enjoyed a rather pleasnat 20 mins in it planning my kit out 17 how sad

Had people cut pieces out of them to use as repair patches do you think?

Sounds like the behaviour of vandals 17 I just can't understand what kind of kick they get out of this sort of thing.

A lot of nylon/poly display tents are probably at the end of their life now, what with having spent a few weeks in the sun, then wind and rain. I've got a cheap tarp (made from that sort of tent maerial I guess) over my mower in the back garden and it has literally just disintegrated over the past couple of weeks. Only been over the mower since May, but the sun and wind and rain have killed it. Good reason to NOT buy ex-display tents!

I can't believe such behaviour exists, especially over a tent.It is ridiculous to think people deliberatly stroll around destroying tents.I hope they get caught.

I don't think its vandals, well not most of the time anyway, some of those tents have been up for a long time.. the damage to the Orchy is the seam has come away from the door zip...

yes some people when looking around the displays will not treat them as if there own but as for out and out vandalism I would say it is minimal.

Funnily enough my Hubby and daughter went to go outdoors in Bristol yesterday and said exactly the same, that nearly all the tents looked like they had been slashed with something!

I was looking at the tents in a camping shop in Haslingden a few weeks ago and saw an Outwell Vermont with slashes on the roof above the sleeping compartments.  They also said it was the weather until they looked more closely. These were clean one-two inch cuts. Totally wrecked the tent.
