Hi,we have just found that the camp site we are going to the tent field is on a slope will that be a problem?,you can also pitch your tent on the flat ground with the touring caravans,is that better?

I have pitched on a slope a couple of times and the only concern is orienteering the tent so that when you sleep, your head is higher than your feet. If the slope is too severe then I would look elsewhere. Do note that on an uneven pitch, the tent may have 'baggy' and 'tight' bits.

We always seem to get a slope! A table with adjustable legs is a must!

I think its less of a prob if its a slope rather than uneven. We had a big hole under ours once as were constantly falling in it and tripping over it.

After a couple of glasses of wine the slope makes getting changed for bed very interesting. 17

We once camped at Newby Bridge and could only get a pitch with a slighht slope.
I woke up in the night and my dear hubby was sleeping in a little heap at the bottom of the tent, I didn't wake him because I thoght he would have woken if he was uncomfortable..... he could hardly walk the next day

The majority of sites are on a slope.

Those that are not on a slope are very often prone to flooding.

We pitched on a very slight slope, unfortunately our airbeds don't have any of that felt stuff on coupled with a silky sleeping bag so with no friction to keep us there we all kept sliping down lol.

Mum2two we have that problem to but have sorted it, or at least made it better. We take a cheap cotton fitted sheet to put on the airbed. So it goes, groundsheet, picnic rug, airbed, fleece blanket, cheap sheet, sleeping bag, top covers if needed.

just pitch on the top part not the bottom or water will settle and you will get wet!

Thanks everyone,i didnt really want to pitch down by the touring caravans as i would miss out on the views from the tent field, the only plus side to being with the caravans is that i could have used them as windbreakers lol,but good to know lots of tent pitches are on slopes.

Our worst slope camping was near Porthmadog - bit of a bind when the chairs kept tipping up when we sat on them.  We'd taken Grandson and OH lifted him out of his travel cot in the morning for him to walk to my airbed, poor little mite rolled down the other end of the tent - made interesting camping though just trying to stay at the top of the airbed during the night 17

reading this thread, makes me realise how dodgy camping on a slope is.I don't fancy rolling down a slight slope and waking up in a heap, specially when i have to hobble, groaning to the shower/toilets in the morning. The site owner may eye me with deep suspicion, wondering why i seem to walk around like one of the Rolling Stones after one of their wild 1960's parties
