After my third camping trip this year was spent in the rain, I've finally decided that it was time for a long break from the sport. I call it a sport because the last two times I've had to race against the storm clouds to break up, and lost both times.

Unlucky! Camping is what you make it and sometimes the best will in the world can be beaten. I know people who will go whatever the weather and they will deal with all the challenges as they appear. Others crumble at the thought of a problem. Perhaps a break will give you new vigour and make you more up for the sport.

aww im sure things will improve for you,we was lucky this yr,went to cornwall for 2 weeks end of june and only had 3 days rain,but il not be beaten by the weather unless its really strong winds,weathers suppose to be improving for the end of august so im having another trip out then and keeping the fingers crossed

My last three trips have all featured some spectacular weather. The gale force winds can be quite scary particularly at night and my wife definitely didn't have much fun. I can't wait to get going and will look forward optimistically for the better weather.

yes my cabanon has a condensation problem at the moment and i think it is down to the odd weather!

Have to say last year was a bit pants rain wise, after May day BH we had quite a bit of rain every camp - I was so pleased to get to Normandy in September - no rain at all for a week

charlie28 I understand where you're coming from. I've realised I like the prospect of camping more than I do the actual camping. There are people on here who are able to enjoy it whatever the weather but I'm not one of them. We're so tired from our busy lives that we don't tend to have the extra energy needed to enjoy a wet trip with 2 young children.

Why spends hundred of pounds (in some cases) for a 'waterproof' tent if we just needed a sun / dew shade!!!

Hairywol, you're dead right!

Guys, remember, when you're out and about looking at other families well and truely pi55ed off with the rain, it has cost them a thousand quid for the pleasure and not a couple of hundred on a campsite!

Who's the soft ticket now!!?
