Hi there,

As this is the first time we been camping since our scouting days (now in our 40's) Can anyone tell me if you should still pitch your tent with back end facing into the wind, and therefore driving rain too? Or was that just because of the types of tents we would have been using back then (Nijer and Icelandics)

We have a Hi Gear Mojave 5, and this will be the first time it has been used proper (apart from back garden test last week!)

Thanks, Liam

The most important thing is to pitch your door away from the wind so your tent doesn't inflate through the door, thats why backside to the breeze is generally a good bet.

Unless you have non closing vents at the back, yes it's a good idea.

If you _have_ got non closing events like we did last year, the rain comes straight through and soaks the bedrooms... Admittedly it was gusting force 8 at the time though!

Hi,
Back to the wind everytime. The only trouble is nobody has told the wind about this rule and it keeps changing directions.
