Well we did it, Betsy my dog and I had our first camping trip to West Wittering and it was amazing. Thanks to all of you for support and encouragement. It was a bit hair raising putting tent up on my own and Betsy not much help she just kept wagging tail and talking to any children who came by!! Then it was unbelievable because the couple opposite and their two daughters came over to offer advice and I knew the girl from about 8 years ago!! Talked to loads of people who offered all sorts of advice and it was such fun. Couldn't wait to get into bed cos it all looked so cosy and welcoming. Weather really kind, dry to get tent up and also today when I had to take it down and come home Betsy loved the beach and the camping, but not being on lead all the time and she did make a bid for freedom last night and went to visit the neighbours!!
Well I'm hooked now, can't wait to go again. Just need to figure out how to post the photos!!
Glad you had a good time, it is great camping with a dog, except when they make a dash for freedom. Ours managed to get into a tent the other end of the field which had its door open, i called the dog but he simply refused to come back. got to the tent and called out Hello but got no reply so started to reach into the tent to retrieve the offending dog only to find a rather nice lady relaxing on top of her bed.I just could not look her in the eye as i apologised
Pleased to hear it all went well. Of course, you will now be looking for excuses to go away all the time and the dog will love it too. Mind made a bid for freedom last time we went but she only went to the edge of our area and then came back. What a sight I looked in my pj's trying to call her.
I am so pleased you went on your own and enjoyed it. I am still trying to pluck up courage to go solo with the dog. Got to find the right tent first that I can put up by myself.
I am going to West Wittering at the weekend with my daughter and grandson plus dog and am so looking forward to it.
Well, Fiona and Deb, there is a solo lady campers meet in the plaaning stage for next year. There's a thread in the "meets" section, see i fyou fancy it.
On our 2nd trip out with out caravan the site owner's dog came and sat in our awning for about 15 mins and refused to budge! Very nice dog. Photo is on the computer (I'm using lappy) or I would post a pic.
