Tent choice is a very personal thing. Some people will be happy with one tent to cover all needs, from a weekend break to a two week break. Others will have different tents for different breaks.
Personally I know that whereas if it was just the kids and me for a short break our Sunncamp Contential would be fine - if Richard was to join us, then it would be no use. He needs to sleep off the floor, and the bedroom pods are not big enough to allow him to have a camp bed, and for me to be on the floor. Now the kids are bigger it is too squashed for me to go in with the kids. Hence we have a new tent. Once we get a chance to try it out, I will probably sell the Contential, as it will be surplus to requirments.
If you feel that the meridian is the right tent for all you needs - then yes you have done the right thing.
