We got back yesterday from two weeks camping in Fort William, it all went really well. I've added some photos to my profile: one of the site as seen from accross Glen Nevis (our tent is a green dot somewhere in the middle); one of the tent; and one of me cooking inside the tent (on an electric hob, well away from the sides and in a section of the tent with a bucket groundsheet).
Thanks for all the advice that helped make the trip a success.

Did you get eaten alive by midges?
I got bitten once by a midge whilst out walking along a shady river bank, but that was it . We had taken our midge jackets and half a dozen bottles of SSS ready for the onslaught that never happened

Glad you escaped them, looks like you had a good time, where are you going for your next trip?
Our plans are to go to the Lake District this easter for a week and a half (a clear week relaxing with a couple of days either side for travel, food shopping etc), and to go to the New Forest the year after.
Now that we've got the gear we know we'll be able to afford to get away each year.
Thanks for your reply Patrick, the train obviously costs less than the petrol and the jourey was probably much less stressful than driving. I last went to Scotland as a young child before the motorways were in place, it seemed to take about 2 weeks to get there in my father's old Rover!
