Arrived in Sunny Hunny, Thursday about lunctime, went straight to the outdoor pool, spent 3 hours in and around, in glorious sunshine. Texted my mum and brother at home, and they thougt I was kidding, because there were terrible thunder and lightening storm raging, with torrential rain.My brother text me back, 'was I in Jamaica?'  

Anyway, set up the tent, and kept ourselves busy checking out the site. On way back from club, the rain came, hard and fast, and continued all through the night. We were tucked up cosy in our tent, luckily with no leaks. Never been in such rain, quite scary actually, in the morning I realised rain had seeped in under the flysheet, and my living room picnic rug was wet.

I am now tempted to invest in a tent with a SIG. What do you think. Do they make a marked difference??

Didn't spoil our holiday, and the sun came out for the rest of the trip,so Happy Days.

We don't have a SIG - perfer grass.    Only ever had a problem once - that was the other year when we ended up with a lake in the living area.   

You also have the fact that if the ground becomes saturaged, water has to go somewhere, and will seep into your tent by rising upwards from the ground, rather than the actual rain getting in under the flysheet.

For me it is worth having a couple of spare picnic rugs, for the odd occasion that you do get very wet inide the living area.

We stayed cosy and dry in our Horizon 8 in Scotland in driving rain most nights we were there.  To us, the sig was a must as I dont like creepy crawlies and wanted to stay dry.  Like most things its a matter of choice

Thanks for all your tales and advice. I am trying to sell my TT and with the money, I may go buy a bigger tent with a SIG.  

Am selling TT as no longer have car with towbar, and DH is not a camper, and I am too short to erect the TT on my own, and am not a confident tower anyway. Shame, but no point holding onto it, when it can do someone else a good turn.
