There have been a few threads on here about the vatious levels of customer service from well know retailers, but I would like to relay my experiences with Yeomans.
I have a large Outwell "lake" tent, for which I just bought a side canopy ( from Yeomans ) - However I have in the last few days also bought a bargain "as new" Cabanon Biscaya 370 ( my ultimate tent ) I have also found a buyer for my Outwell who didn't require the side part. ( Nothing wrong with the Outwell its fantastic - just that I cant use two large tents )
Yeomans took back the side canopy which of course hadn't been used, gave me a full cash refund - they also fully refunded a large outwell table, that simply wouldn't fit in the boot of my car. Their Head Office have been brilliant on the odd occassion that I have used them. And the staff at the local garden centre - which has an excellent outdoor display - are also super helpfull - they will order stuff in for you and dont object if you change your mind and choose something else instead.
I hear nothing but good reports about this firm. I think they set the standards for others to follow. I am extremely happy with them - just wish they sold Cabanons !
Thats good to here that you have had excellent customer service.
It helps to post the good and the bad on here, giving members as much info as possible about various retailers
>Just wish they sold Cabanons<
Me too.

It's the dozens of posts like this which have confirmed to me that I'll be buying my next tent from Yeomans, regardless of price cuts available at other retail chains!
------------- 2011 plans:
April - Exmoor 11 nights
May - Brynawelon, Wales 3 nights
July - Rendlesham Forest 4 nights
Then I am off back home to Australia, where the weather is always perfect for camping :)
We have just had a good result with Yeomans who have just agreed to replace our 16 month old tent which has started to leak.
We originally bought it from our local Yeomans camping exhibition last year and went back again this weekend when we saw it was on again. The chap there said they couldn't help us as the tent was out of warranty but advised us to ring the Yeomans customer services number. Which we did. They rang us back within about 15 minutes of the original phone call and said that the local Yeomans shop would contact us when the new tent was delivered there.
We like to visit the one in Wolverhampton.I would like to say they are campers and know what they are on about .One of the older guys gave me good advise the easiest way to erect my new tent, one of the younger girls also gave me a run down of her experiences of back packing lightweight.
I also called them regarding the discount of when the shows/display did not have the tent on view.I was informed if i went to the shop it would be on view and i would still be entitled to the discount as long as i bought the tent while the show was on.With my saving i bought a decent double sleeping bag off them.
I can also recommend both their telephone sales and their online service - I'd seen an online advert for the tent I was interested in as a package with carpet and footprint included and phoned the Wigan branch to order. Very nice chap explained they had long sold out of that deal, but they had 3 of the tents left at an exhibition in York if I still wanted one, at way below the prices advertised elsewhere, and they could also get me the footprint, still a great deal so I promptly ordered it. I got an email over the weekend to say they had not been able to get the footprint and my card has already been refunded the difference, tent arrived this morning, p&p free. His Nibs has christened it the Hernia 500 as its a bit heavier than our last tent
Saturday late afternoon - I called their shop in Bury to see if they had 3 fold-up easycamp stools ( £3.99 each ) they didn't - nor did they have any in the main warehouse.
The lady on the phone said she could see two at another shop in the midlands and one at a store in the South East - she requested all 3 and they have arrived today In just over 1 working day they had these items collected from the various branches and sent via head office to Bury - all for the princley sum of £11.97 - Amazing service !
Bought an Outwell Montana6 extension online, arrived super quick but... had two faults including a whole to the window. it was obviously returned stock and turned out to be very old stock too (old design).
Returned t to a local Yeomans store who were fantastic, provided a replacement in two days, new design and perfect.
Last time I use the online store but will be using the local branch much more often
I was in need of Tenacious Tape. My local Yeomans had none left but the shop assistant searched and found that a branch near to where we were camping a day later had some in.
Very impressive for an item that would gain them just a few pounds.
Placed an on-line order for an item (Vango Canopy) on Sunday evening which was listed as in-stock next day delivery. Received no shipping confirmation on Monday or Tuesday, e-mailed and rang on Wednesday, was promised a return call but received nothing. E-mailed and rang Thursday....nothing again. Cancelled my order and have sent a letter of complaint (which I'm guessing will equally receive no response). Will never set foot in a Yeomans store based upon my on-line experience with them and I hope others will see this and do the same........there is simply too much competition for camping equipment to have to put up with this apallingly bad service.
Only visited the Codsall store (Wolverhampton) Very helpful and polite staff, reasonalbe prices and a really good display. It was seeing their Bear Lake 4 up that made my mind up about buying the Trout Lake (Same quality etc)
Similar to the experieince I had at Windfields at Feckenham near Redditch - very helpful and polite, properly trained staff.
Well done to both of them.
------------- No is a shorter word than yes, but it always takes longer to say.
I've posted about my experiences with them before, but I've always been more than impressed by Yeomans.
Vangoholic of course has had a different experience and shows that it only takes 1 cr*p experience and you've not only lost 1 customer but most of their friends and family too!
